How To Clean Rod Iron Patio Furniture

Instructions

Clean and treat rod iron patio furniture with oils a couple of times a year. To prevent contamination, always keep in cold weather or at rain. When possible, choose furniture in teak. Though it’s the most expensive, teak is the most resistant to wet weather. If you have a hammock to clean, select a sunny day and keep in mind that the hammock has to dry completely in the sun before the night to avoid mold. As much as you want to bleach and light up your hammock, never use bleach because it will weaken the fibers.

Carefully scrub the surface of rod iron patio furniture with a mild detergent and rinse with a garden hose. Dirt on the surface can lock in moisture and cause rust. Patches can be cleaned by gently scrubbing the surface. When cleaning your furniture, always check any signs of paint damage and rust. If you spot rust, sand it and the damaged paint down to the metal. Apply primer and rustproof paint to protect. To further protect your pieces, apply two-layered pasta paste wax once or twice a year. This will allow moisture to simply roll from the surface.

Clean painted rod iron patio furniture with a mixture of mild detergents or water and lubricants. After washing, wipe properly and use the car’s adhesive wax to protect it. Avoid corrosive detergents and brushes. Use a metal pole paste to have unpainted aluminum furniture look as new as new. While uncoated aluminum pieces do not rust, they may suffer from oxidation. Remove light oxidation with a solution of 4 parts water to 1 part vinegar. Avoid using strong chemicals, such as ammonia, when cleaning.

Clean the cushions by soaking them in a bath or bin with water and a mild detergent. If your pillows are completely white or color fast, will add bleach to this mix giving them a lighter, mold-free and cleaner look. Hang up pillows to dry in the sun after cleaning. Pillows, if cared for well, can last for years. Scrub patio umbrellas with a solution of warm water and mild detergent. Subsequently, rinse thoroughly with a soft spray from the garden hose. Choose a warm sunny day as the umbrella must be open to dry completely. Mold on vinyl umbrellas can be stubborn, so if your mild solution does not work, apply vehicle vinyl cleaner – the type used for convertibles.
